LONDON – British fintech giant Revolut on Tuesday announced a record annual profit for 2025, a significant milestone that the company says will fuel an ambitious and long-awaited expansion into the United States market. The results bolster its standing as one of Europe’s most valuable private technology firms, last valued at $75 billion in a 2025 funding round.
The financial technology company, which offers services ranging from banking and currency exchange to stock and cryptocurrency trading, reported a net profit of £150 million for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2025, up from a modest profit the previous year. Company officials attribute the robust growth to a surge in its user base, now exceeding 45 million globally, and increased transaction volumes across its higher-margin products, including its popular crypto trading services.
This strong financial footing is critical as Revolut prepares for a major U.S. push. “Our performance in Europe and other core markets has given us the firepower to invest seriously in North America,” a company spokesperson said in a statement. “We see a clear demand for a single app that manages all aspects of a person’s financial life, and we believe our product is superior to what’s currently available to American consumers.”
However, analysts caution that the path will be challenging. The U.S. market is heavily saturated with established digital banking players like Chime and SoFi, alongside fierce competition from legacy banks and payment platforms. “Revolut’s all-in-one model is compelling, but brand recognition is low in the U.S., and the cost of customer acquisition will be immense,” one financial services analyst noted.
Furthermore, the company’s progress is shadowed by ongoing regulatory scrutiny. Revolut is still awaiting a full banking license in its home U.K. market after a lengthy application process, a situation that industry watchers say could signal potential hurdles with stringent U.S. regulators. As it gears up for this new chapter, Revolut’s ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes will be just as crucial as its product innovation.
