Mississippi College School of Law has been named a Gold-level Military Friendly® School for graduate programs, while the university’s main campus received Silver status in the 2024 rankings released this week. The designation recognizes institutions providing exceptional support for military-affiliated students.
The Military Friendly® ratings, conducted by Viqtory Media, evaluate over 1,800 schools annually based on academic policies, veteran graduation rates, and career outcomes. ‘This reflects our commitment to serving those who served our country,’ said an MC spokesperson, noting specialized scholarships and dedicated advising for veterans.
Analysts highlight growing competition among law schools for military-connected applicants, with veterans comprising nearly 10% of JD candidates nationwide. MC Law’s Veterans Legal Clinic, launched in 2021, provides practical experience while serving local veterans.
Higher education experts suggest such designations may become increasingly important as the Post-9/11 GI Bill undergoes potential reforms. ‘Schools are preparing for possible changes in military education benefits,’ noted a policy researcher at the American Council on Education.
